The District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority desperately needs to change its image. After years of disturbing lead findings, toxic chlorine pollutants, chronically broken fire hydrants, and the like, they’re hardly seen as the District’s most efficient agency.
It won’t be an easy task to make people forget WASA’s inadequacies, but new General Manager George Hawkins has to start somewhere — so why not get the ball rolling with a new logo? In partnership with WVSA Arts, WASA has announced a rebranding contest open to all you talented designers and creative thinkers out there. Entrants are asked come up with a new trade name, logo, tagline or some combination of the three for the water utility. The trade name must contain only words, or parts of words, included in “District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority,” as the Authority can’t change its legal name, but otherwise, the sky’s the limit. Full contest guidelines are here.
The winner will receive $2,000. That’s also gotta be the cheapest way to rebrand a large organization we’ve ever heard of.
