It’s tough to make normal recommendations for this weekend’s events when so many things have been or are being canceled, and we’re being told to please for the love of god stay off the streets and sidewalks. But we know some of you will still want to head out of the house at some point this weekend, so here’s a few of our best guesses:

>> So far, the Verizon Center says it is staying open all weekend, meaning the Capitals, Hoyas and Wizards games scheduled for tonight and Saturday will go on as planned. And given the weather situation, that could mean that a lot of tickets may be suddenly available on Craigslist or StubHub for these games. But be sure to check in here or at the teams’ web sites to make certain it’s still a go before you head down there. And be aware that Metro service might have already changed by the time you exit the arena.

>> Via H Street Great Street, H Street restaurants and bars Little Miss Whiskeys, the Pug, Sticky Rice, Palace of Wonders, Jimmy Valentine’s, and the Red and the Black are trying to entice customers in this weekend by knocking $1 off per drink for every six inches of snow that has accumulated. It’s a fun idea, and with predictions of 3 inches of snow per hour tonight, potentially a great deal. Just make sure you know how you’re going to get home from H Street before you go. There’s a good chance the buses could stop running while you’re down there. The special runs Friday and Saturday.

>> Cheap eats stalwarts The Diner, Tryst and Open City made sure to email us to remind everyone that they have zero plans to close this weekend. Tryst will be open until 3 a.m tonight and Saturday, The Diner is, as always, 24-hours, and Open City will close at 1 a.m.

>> Z Burger in Tenleytown plans to stay open, and will be selling any burger on their menu for just $1 to those brave enough to make it down there.

>> Nearly every event in our Arts Agenda has been canceled, but we have been told in no uncertain terms that the installation piece/wedding between Dana Ellyn and Matt Sesow is definitely still on for tonight at Long View Gallery. Reception starts at 6:30 p.m. and the nuptials begin promptly at 7:30 p.m.

>> Fatback’s Saturday night party at Liv is still a go, with no cover and no dress code. So if you feel like dancing the night away in your snow boots, it’s probably your best bet. 10 p.m.

>> The Velvet Lounge plans to be open through the weekend, regardless of the weather. Tonight’s shows at the Black Cat and the Rock and Roll Hotel are still set to go on as planned.

>> The Passenger plans to stay open tonight, but will be closed tomorrow. CommonWealth will remain open until further notice.

Feel free to add any other suggestions in the comments. We’ll try to let people know what’s open tomorrow as the day unfolds.
