Bobcats 94, Wizards 92: The basketball gods giveth, and the basketball gods taketh away. While the Wizards ended their last game with a last-second dagger from the hands of Caron Butler, last night’s game against Charlotte found Washington on the opposite end of a clutch shot. Raymond Felton hit a fadeaway jumper with little over a second left to down the Wizards on the road. Antawn Jamison had two chances to at least take the game in overtime, but neither one of his scoop shots went down. As normal, Wizards trading chips Caron Butler (game-high 23 points) and Brendan Haywood (12 points, 11 boards) boosted their value, but good games by guys who might actually be here next year — Mike Miller (8-10 from the field) and Andray Blatche (15 points in 19 minutes off the bench) — were somewhat promising. Fun fact: obviously, the federal government isn’t the only entity taking a ton of days off as of late. Last night’s loss is the Wizards’ only game over a twelve-day span, beginning with last Friday’s win over Orlando, and encompassing a postponed game, two major snowstorms (and the team getting stranded during both) and the All-Star break. Flip Saunders should use the next seven days to rejuvenate the team; the Wizards play seven games in 11 days to round out February.
