Leslie and the Lys bring sweater-clad midwestern lady rap to DC9 this Sunday MONDAY
>> Some of you, like me, might not have seen the inside of your office in well over a week. If that’s the case, a nice soothing way to ease yourself back into life in public might be Janel & Anthony and Cigarbox Planetarium at the Cat’s backstage tonight. $8, 8:30 p.m.
>> If you haven’t heard yet, the Kings of Convenience show originally scheduled for tonight at the 9:30 Club has been postponed until June 6. All original tickets will be honored at that time.
>> Described as having elements of “electronic loops, hip-hop beats, shoegaze, soul, pop,” Phantogram sounds exactly like the kind of DC9 is great at booking, that usually ends up sounding fantastic on their stage. $8, 8:30 p.m.
TUESDAY
>> The Growlers’ sun-soaked folk will pair nicely with the heartbreaking notes of John Bustine on the Cat’s backstage. $10, 9 p.m.
>> Japanese band Polysics will either rock your socks off or give you a seizure. It’s up in the air. Joined by Geist on stage at the Rock & Roll Hotel, this show will be memorable one way or the other. 8:30 p.m., $15.
>> Upstairs at the Hotel, test your rockumentary knowledge during Rock & Roll Hotel High School, the trivia night based on movies shown that evening. Free, starting at 6 p.m.
>> If lo-fi garage rock is your thing (and it certainly is mine), you’d be making a mistake to miss The Beets, Beach Fossils, and Christmas Island at the Velvet Lounge. Those who frown on guitar fuzz should stay far away. $8, 9 p.m.
