MOVIES: Oscar junkies should be heading to the E Street Cinema to catch special screenings this week of all the Oscar Nominated Short Films. The films are grouped into two sets, five nominees each in the Animated and Live Action Shorts categories. Animated shorts show at 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., while the Live Action selections are at 7:45 p.m.

MUSIC: If you just can’t get enough of that Swedish pop music, you’ll want to be at the Black Cat tonight to catch Fredrik, the duo made up of Fredrik Hultin and his partner Lindefelt, who also perform as the LK. Locals Meredith Bragg and Pree open. $10, 8:30 p.m.

TALK: The NewsHour‘s Gwen Ifill is at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library tonight to lead a discussion about racism in America (and to shill for her book, The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.). The talk starts at 7 p.m., and is free.

FOOD & DRINK: Call ahead to see if you can still snag a spot for Againn‘s Barley Wine Dinner, featuring a four-course selection of British dishes paired with different barley wines from both the United States and Europe.
