Good morning, Washington. Remember the shocking street racing case from two years ago, when eight people were killed and eight others injured during a race gone horribly wrong in Accokeek? Well, the vehicular manslaughter trial against 20-year-old Tavon Taylor has ended in mistrial, WTTG/FOX 5 reports. “The jury deliberated five hours on Friday and started at 9 Monday morning. Deliberations went into Monday night when the mistrial was declared.” Darren Bullock, you’ll recall, the driver who actually plowed into the crowd, already pleaded guilty and got 15 years. Prince George’s State Attorney Glen Ivey plans to re-try Taylor.

Vote on Barry Discipline Likely Today: The D.C. Council is indeed planning to take up disciplinary action against Ward 8 Council member Marion Barry later today. And as City Desk notes, independent attorney Robert Bennett’s follow-up report finds that Barry does not “challenge the key factual findings” of the original. So just what will the Council do? They’ve indicated they plan to move to censure Barry, strip him of his chairmanship of the Committee on Housing and Workforce Development (which will likely go to Michael A. Brown) plus his seat on the Finance and Revenue Committee, and then refer the case to the U.S. attorney’s office. The special session on Barry will likely take place later this afternoon, after the Council wraps up its regular legislative session. We’ll keep you posted.

Gay Marriage Opponents Appeal to Supreme Court: The District is all set to begin accepting same-sex marriage applications tomorrow morning, but as the Associated Press reports, opponents to the law are trying one last Hail Mary — appealing to the Supreme Court. “Court papers filed Monday with Chief Justice John Roberts argue that Washington residents should be able to vote on the matter.” The likelihood the highest court in the land will decide to get involved today? Slim to none.
