FRIDAY:

MOVIE: This weekend’s midnight movie at the Landmark E Street Cinema is Troll 2, which currently resides at #58 on the IMDb’s user-voted worst 100 movies of all time list. Italian director Claudio Fragasso tells the story of a family that accidentally goes on holiday to a goblin kingdom. It’s a so bad it’s good kind of situation. Tonight and Saturday.

ART: It’s First Friday, so swing around Dupont Circle for the neighborhood gallery openings at Hillyer, Studio Gallery, Foundry Gallery, and more. If you get to Dupont early, swing by the Phillips Collection, where you can get a free cup of spicy southwestern hot cocoa at their cafe when you purchase a ticket to see Georgia O’Keeffe: Abstraction on Fridays through March 19.

DJ: First Fridays also mean “Moneytown” is back at Dahlak, with regular DJ Nitekrawler and guests Jason Hamlin and Mike Murphy spinning soul and funk. Free, 10 p.m.

CLASSICAL: Take in a free concert at the Library of Congress tonight featuring the Vienna Piano Trio performing work by Robert Schumann and his wife, Clara Schumann. 8 p.m.

MUSIC: The Vita Ruins celebrate the release of their new CD tonight at the Black Cat. Ra Ra Rasputin and Cobra Collective open. $10, 9 p.m.

SATURDAY:

ART: There’s only one place you must absolutely be on Saturday, and that’s at the Long View Gallery for the opening of the 2010 DCist Exposed Photography Show. The big event runs from 6 to 10 p.m., and includes a signature punch from mixologist Scott Palmer from Dino, a liquor tasting from Leopold Brothers, wines from Downey Selections, and plenty of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. Nage will provide hors d’oeuvres, while DJs v:shal kanwar, Sequoia, and Mr Darko spin tunes. PBR will also be giving away homemade pinhole cameras made from recycled beer cans to the first 100 visitors. $5 at the door. We’ll see you there!

SUNDAY:

MOVIE: Gear up for the Academy Awards by hitting the National Archives to catch the last few free screenings of nominated films. Screenings go on all weekend, but Sunday’s offerings include all the documentary short subject nominees at noon and the documentary feature Which Way Home at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are first come, first served, given out one hour before each show.
