MUSIC: Tonight at the Rock and Roll Hotel, Austin-based Shearwater, co-founded by Okkervil River’s Jonathan Meiburg, will perform with Baltimore’s Wye Oak and Hospital Ships. 9 p.m., $12.

Velvet Lounge has locals Imperial China (***), Cephalopods (featuring Hugh from Black Eyes), Miracles, and Busses. 10 p.m., $8.

ART: SOVA Espresso and Wine host an opening for Silent Sound: An Integration of Deaf Art and Music. See artwork by deaf artist Jiayi Zhou, while deaf-friendly music incorporating bass and reverberations will be performed by DJ Chris Nitti and Matthew Hemerlein. 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Art, Beats + Lyrics is entering its sixth year as a traveling urban arts exhibit. With well over 30 artists on display, the program will take place at Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium. Free, 7 p.m.

DJ: Paying homage to one of D.C.’s fallen dance clubs, “Red Fridays” intends to be a weekly event featuring house music. DJs Meistro and Deep Sang will provide the sounds at one of the city’s newest venues, the U Street Music Hall. $10, 9 p.m.
