Peak blooming dates for Washington’s famed cherry blossoms have been revised a second time. The National Park Service now says there will be just two days of peak bloom: April 1-2. The estimated dates had originally spanned from April 3-8, and were later moved up to April 1-4.

The overall blooming period was also revised by one day, to March 27-April 8 from March 28-April 9. With the National Cherry Blossom Festival running through April 11, looks like the celebration will now outlast the blooms by several days.

April 1 and 2 are this Thursday and Friday, so if you’re hoping to see the cherry blossoms at their best this year, start planning accordingly. DCist highly recommends visiting the Tidal Basin in the early morning hours, when the sunrise and lack of tourists often combine for optimal viewing. And the forecast for the end of this week so far looks fantastic.
