MUSIC: Jello Biafra’s Guantanamo School of Medicine project is at the Black Cat. Baltimore’s Sick Weapons and the Kominas open. 8 p.m., $12.
Or, Gang Gang Dance, the dreamy/experimental/avant-garde band from New York, performs with the tropical/jungle/psychedelic band High Life at the Rock and Roll Hotel tonight, for a most certainly trippy 8 p.m. show. Buy tickets online, $13.
READING: If you got jazzed about Google’s new bicycle directions and are anxiously awaiting the new Pennsylvania Ave. bike lanes then you might want to head to Busboys and Poets (5th and K streets NW) tonight for “An Evening with Willie Weir – A Frugal Cyclist’s Guide to the Universe,” from 6-8 p.m. Weir will share stories from his recent book, Travels with Willie. Event organizers are asking for $5 donations, which will go to the Washington Area Bicyclist Association and the Alliance for Biking & Walking.
FOOD & DRINK: One keg, one night only. The Black Squirrel (2427 18th St. NW) has only one keg of Holy Moses, “a Belgian-style wit beer with Cleveland attitude” made by the Great Lakes Brewing Company, and they’re drinking it tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. Also on hand will be samples of other Great Lakes beers and complimentary appetizers.
