Friend of DCist Marin Cogan sends along these photos she snapped at the Embassy of Poland, where mourners are leaving flowers to memorialize the life and loss of Polish President Lech Kaczynski. He died in a plane crash while traveling to Katyn to commemorate the massacre of thousands of Polish officers who were prisoners of war held by Russia. Today marks a tragedy compounding a tragedy. The Embassy of Poland has opened a book of condolence; mourners may sign it today from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday through Friday next week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
