MUSIC: At DC9, catch Three Stars alumna Carol Bui in her final show before she moves to Tacoma, Washington. Aloha and Pomegranates round out the bill. 8:30 p.m., $12.

The Velvet Lounge hosts Mi Ami, Maximillion Dunbar, and Steve Summers tonight, with Beautiful Swimmers DJing downstairs. $7, 9 p.m.

JAZZ: The Smithsonian American Art Museum presents A Tribute to the Tax Man with singer-songwriter-pianist Sandy Asirvatham and players Frank Russo, Max Murray, and Jeff Antoniuk, performing “music of many eras with songs about money and the lack thereof.” 5-8 p.m. in the Kogod Courtyard. The performance is free, a welcome price for those who didn’t receive a cushy tax refund this year.

DANCE: Dance is the Answer is holding an opening party at Busboys and Poets (5th and K NW location) tonight to kick-off 20 days of dance events in D.C. The dance info, mingling, and possible flash mob dance occurrence (seriously) is free, but drinks are not. 6 to 9 p.m.

ART: Check out beautiful and often prohibitively expensive sculpture, jewelry, and various types of art at the 28th Annual Smithsonian Craft Show tonight till 8 p.m. (doors opened at 10 a.m.) at the National Building Museum (401 F Street NW). Admission is $15. Our apologies, this event is actually next week.

MOVIE: Filmfest DC kicks off tonight with the movie Hipsters. So put on those tight dirty jeans and apathetic looks and head to the AMC Mazza Gallerie (5300 Wisconsin Avenue NW). 7 p.m., tickets $10.
