Good morning, Washington. Got your taxes all done, or will you be sweating it out in front of a hastily purchased copy of Turbo Tax at some point today? If it’s really not looking good, just repeat after us: Form 4868. Form 4868. Form 4868. Also good to note, via WTOP, is that if you’re one of the few procrastinators who still mails in a paper return, you’ve only got one post office in the city planning on staying open until midnight tonight: the National Capitol Post Office at 2 Massachusetts Ave. NE. A few others will also be open until 8 p.m.

Omar Karim Got Unusual Contractor’s Fee: In the Washington Post today, Nikita Stewart and Paul Schwartzman uncover what appears to be a non-standard “consultant’s markup” given to controversial Fenty pal Omar Karim’s firm, Banneker Ventures, via the company’s parks and rec construction contracts. “The unusual markup granted to Banneker meant that if a subcontractor such as Liberty Engineering charged $30,020 for a survey, as it did in November, Banneker collected 9 percent of that charge, or $2,701. With more than a dozen subcontractors working on the parks, the fee was expected to add $744,000 to Banneker’s base fee of $4.2 million …” While the Fenty administration claims the fee was normal, it’s telling that Allen Lew is reportedly now paying the new project manager that replaced Banneker a flat fee with no markup.

First Guilty Plea in Taxi Industry Bribery Case: Ethiopian taxi advocate Abdul Kamus has pleaded guilty for his part in bribing former Jim Graham chief of staff Ted Loza in exchange for influence within the D.C. Council, the Examiner reports. No word yet on what kind of deal he might have struck in terms of sentencing. Graham, for his part, is still just trying to stay out of it: ‘Graham told the Washington Examiner that the guilty plea, “has nothing to do with me,” and declined to comment further.’

Briefly Noted: Kwame Brown files his paperwork to run for Council Chair … Two seriously burned in fire at Georgetown Univ. … Flight from Dulles makes emergency landing … Shops at Georgetown Park mall is up for auction … Suspended officer in PG County police beating named.

This Day in DCist: In 2008, the D.C. Madam was found guilty of running a Washington-area call-girl ring.
