Paying your taxes can be a real bummer, but the plethora of special Tax Day promotions and giveaways on deck will hopefully brighten moods in Washington today.

For those of you able to be near the IRS Building (10th and Pennsylvania) from noon to 1 p.m., you’ll be able to get a free 6 oz. Blizzard from the Dairy Queen’s Blizzard mobile.

A number of local restaurants are also offering Tax Day promotions:
>> Some of the Kimpton Hotel bars (Bar Rouge, Helix Lounge, & Topaz Bar) are offering $10.40 appetizers paired with cocktail/drink options.
>> Brabo is waiving sales tax for all diners today.
>> Get tax filing assistance, tax forms, and prix fixe three-course meals ($20.15 for lunch, and $35.15 for dinner) at the bar at Zola.
>> BLT Steak is offering 50 percent off all beer, cocktails, wine by the glass, and wine by the bottle.

The Bargainist has a nice rundown of food deals and freebies from national chains. Some of the bigger ones include bringing your own travel mug for a free cup of coffee from Starbucks, $10.40 dinner specials & drink specials at the bar at McCormick and Schmick’s, free cookies at Subway, and a free sample of Maggie Moo’s ice cream pizza from 3-7 p.m.
