Today is your deadline, last chance, final day, to be part of Team DCist at Saturday’s Servathon 2010. We’ll be cleaning the streets of Petworth and Columbia Heights in the morning, then celebrating at the Servathon afterparty. We’re also getting awesome Servathon t-shirts that say Team DCist on them. DCist has the largest team in the event — our 47th participant helped us eclipse Team DHS this morning! And there is still space for a few more people to join us on our project.
To join us, head to www.servathon.org. When registering, select “Join a Team” and choose “Team DCist” from the drop down menu that appears. And don’t delay. Registration may close as early as 5 p.m. today, or until all spots at our Petworth site have been filled. And as we understand, the print run for our Team DCist was 50 t-shirts, as that’s the size team we expected to have. So guaranteed shirts go only to the next 3 people that sign up and get us to 50! After 50 it’s all gravy—but you’ll have to settle for a plain Servathon tee.
And whether or not you can join us, we welcome donations to Servathon organizer Greater DC Cares in the name of the team or of your favorite participant. Congrats to Jill Adams, Rebecca Cooper, Heather Goss, Geoffrey Hatchard, and DCist queen bee Sommer Mathis for each raising over $100 so far. Along with sending over 5,000 do-gooders into the streets this weekend, Servathon’s goal is to raise $160,000 for Greater DC Cares. They’re on their way, but could use an extra $10K or two. So drop us some dimes, and/or join Rebecca, Heather, Sommer, Siram Gopal, Kyle Gustafson, Chris Klimek, Tom Lee, and me on Saturday.
