ART: Stop by Civilian Art Projects (1019 7th Street NW) tonight between 4-6:30 p.m. and Make Something Awesome. Remember how much fun art class was? At this free crafting event you’ll be able to partake in activities like making duct tape business card holders, embroidery, and button making. Beer and pizza will also be available for a suggested donation. Then, stay from 6:30-8 p.m. for the panel discussion The Meaning of Making, where four speakers will talk about making their living by cooking, crafting, designing, and woodworking.

MUSIC: The Rock Bottom Remainders, made up of Dave Barry and other author buddies (as noted in yesterday’s About Tonight) with special guest Roger McGuinn of The Byrds perform at the 9:30 Club, 7 p.m., tickets are $30.

CLASSICAL: Pianist Mitsuko Uchida, recipient of BBC Music Magazine’s Instrumentalist of the Year award, plays the Music Center at Strathmore tonight in a performance sponsored by the Washington Performing Arts Society. Uchida will perform works by Mozart and Schumann. 8 p.m.

FOOD & DRINK: The Busboys & Poets in Shirlington is hosting an Organic Beer Happy Hour today beginning at 4 p.m., featuring Peak nut brown ale, Wolavers brown ale, and Bison chocolate stout for $4 each.
