Canadiens 2, Capitals 1: The Caps couldn’t wrap up the series in Game 5, and now have to head back to Quebec for what will certainly be a challenging Game 6. Be sure to visit us tomorrow morning for our full report.

Nationals 5, Dodgers 1: Ah, Teddy would be proud. Adam Dunn smacked two long homers to lead the Nationals to a victory over Los Angeles. On the mound, Luis Atilano really impressed in his major league debut, tossing six innings of five-hit, one-run ball after being called up from Triple-A Syracuse earlier in the day. Atliano was the first Nat to win his first big league start since Jordan Zimmermann (oh right, that other promising pitcher we’ve got!) last April. Atilano was not overpowering, but he managed the game very well. The righty certainly benefited from Dunn’s 25th career multi-homer game, a big triple from Nyjer Morgan (who now leads the National League in that category) and two innings of solid relief from Tyler Clippard, who struck out four in the seventh and eighth. But all eyes were on Atilano, and rightfully so. Perhaps it’s because this writer spent the evening finally viewing Sugar, but it’s hard not to feel inspired by a guy who obviously fulfilled a dream under the lights of Nationals Park. As Atilano said post-game: “After 7 years, I made it finally. I pitched to Pudge Rodriguez. I can’t ask for nothing better than that.” Who says baseball can’t still be a magical thing?
