It’s difficult to look away from this particular photograph. Flickr contributor Yospyn used the reflection in the glass to create this multi-layered image. I really like the way the three central figures are tied together. The man in the foreground seems to be peering at the man in the center, whose eyes direct us toward the woman looking at the viewer. There are so many layers to this photograph, the spoons on the right, the word “Ellington” in the center, the woman’s patterned jacket on the left, that you can spend a good bit of time discovering them all. There are many photographers who try to capture compelling reflection photos, but it isn’t easy, and most don’t execute it this well.
There’s a good story at the Worn Magazine blog about Andrew Wodzianski, the artist in the center of this image, who is currently living in a high tech box on U Street NW.
