  • Wow, Brooks Laich is perhaps the nicest guy in town. While driving home from last night’s devastating playoffs defeat, the Caps center stopped to help a fan change her tire. Dan Steinberg has the story over at the Bog.
  • At DC Agenda (soon to be the Washington Blade), Lou Chibbaro, Jr. breaks down the latest, completely bizarre controversy from city hall: Mayor Adrian Fenty apparently accidentally signed on to honor Regina Griggs, the leader of the anti-gay group Parents & Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays (PFOX), with an award. Fenty has since apologized to LGBT leaders, blaming a “staff-level error” for the mistake. This is one of those things that’s so preposterously stupid, we actually believe Fenty’s explanation.
  • WTOP’s Adam Tuss recaps today’s WMATA board meeting, which focused on exactly how much fares are looking like they’ll increase come July. “It seems likely that the base, peak rail fares will jump from $1.65 to $1.90, off-peak will go from $1.35 to $1.55, and bus rides will go up $.25.”
  • Nathaniel Simms has pleaded guilty to five counts of second-degree murder while armed for his role in the Mar. 30 shootings on South Capitol Street, Keith Alexander reports at the Post. Simms “is the first to cooperate with police and provide names and details of the accounts in exchange for lesser charges.”
  • Mike DeBonis files his final Loose Lips column. Best of luck at the Washington Post, brother.
