The English Beat (a long time ago)

MONDAY
The English Beat, as they once claimed, just can’t stop it. Having come to town in February for the prematurely titled “Spring Skaward” tour with Fishbone, the band marches on with its relentless schedule, perhaps not to be outdone by another 2-Tone act who recently dusted off their trombones. At The Birchmere with The Scotch Bonnets. 7:30 p.m., $25.

>>Black Cat:Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek as Reflection Eternal with Laws. 8 p.m., Sold Out.

TUESDAY
A pairing years in the making (and arguably five too late), New Brunswick’s Thursday will be at The Black Cat with metalcore demi-gods Converge. In the recent past this collaboration would have started more fights than sold tickets, but times and tastes have changed. Converge’s latest, Axe to Fall, is a relentless mix of sludge and noise that’s been universally praised whereas the once mighty Thursday has fallen upon hard times after its brief dalliance with the majors. The kids (and the suits) are a fickle bunch. With Touché Amoré and Lewd Acts. 7:30 p.m., $20.

>>The Birchmere: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy celebrate 100 years of Cab Calloway. 7:30 p.m., $39.50.

>>9:30: Sia, Girl in a Coma. 7 p.m., $25.

>>The Rock and Roll Hotel: The Album Leaf, Sea Wolf. 8:30 p.m., $15.

>>DC9: Captured! by Robots, Kill Lincoln. 9 p.m., $10.

>>Iota: The Ike Reilly Assassination. 8:30 p.m., $12.
