Cleveland Park residents and smokers from across the city were saddened to see Bedrock Management’s Aroma close its doors a few weeks ago. Word around town is that the space will reopen after renovations as some kind of wine & tapas spot, with the crucial difference being that it will no longer sell cigars. Whatever ends up replacing it, one of the few bars inside the District that legally allowed smoking is gone for good.
For all you disappointed smokers out there, we thought we’d point you to the Department of Health’s list of other establishments that still carry a hardship exemption to the workplace smoking ban. Most everyone knows about Shelly’s Backroom downtown, but there’s also Ollie’s L Street Lounge (1426 L Street NW), Ozio Martini & Cigar Lounge (1813 M Street NW), Gazuza (1629 Connecticut Ave. NW) and hookah bars like Chi Cha Lounge (1624 U Street NW) and Soussi (2228 18th Street NW).
