The quasi-governmental agency that’s been at the center of D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty’s parks contracting scandal will soon be under the financial supervision of D.C. CFO Natwar Gandhi, the Examiner reports.

The D.C. Council had been pushing Gandhi to assert control over the D.C. Housing Authority ever since the beginning of an investigation into how Fenty funneled money through the agency and used it to award large construction contracts to companies owned by close friends of his. Gandhi will take the financial reins beginning July 1.

UPDATE: Over at D.C. Wire, Tim Craig is reporting that interim D.C. Housing Authority director Adrienne Todman is skeptical that Gandhi has the authority to seize control of her agency’s finances. “… Todman said the authority’s legal team is looking into the matter, and she also wants to talk to residents about how they feel.”
