D.C. police are asking the public for help in their investigation of a fatal stabbing early this morning in the 1900 block of 9th St NW.

The incident occurred around 2:19 a.m. Officers from the MPD’s Third District arrived to find an adult male suffering from a stab wound to the chest. A short time later the man was pronounced dead.

As Borderstan correctly notes, this stretch of 9th Street, between U and T streets NW, is hardly isolated. The block includes a number of popular Ethiopian restaurants, bars like DC9, Nellie’s and Expo, and almost always features people mingling on the sidewalks.

Police are hoping someone saw something and can provide them with a lead. Third District Commander Jacob Kishter is asking anyone with information to call 202-727-9099, or provide anonymous information by phone at 1-888-919-CRIME or text to 50411.

This was not the only fatal stabbing since Thursday. The Washington Post reports that Michael Geoffrey McKoy, 38, was found stabbed to death at around 2:30 p.m. yesterday inside his apartment, which is located on the 1600 block of V St. SE. The two incidents appear to be unrelated.
