Over 100 years ago, Washington DC was known as the “City of Trees” for both the number and variety of trees in the District area. In recent decades… not so much. Casey Trees wants to help DC live up to their name and has been protecting the city’s tree canopy since 2001. They work with community leaders and officials as well as thousands of volunteers to care for and add to these trees.
Deals for Deeds is a group buying site whose goal is to bring deals to the Greater DC area while giving back to the local community. They’ve decided to partner up with Casey Trees in an initiative to green DC. A tree will be planted during Casey Trees’ Community Tree Planting this October for every 250 people that sign up on the website.
