Good morning, Washington. So! That Strasburg guy seems like he can pitch, huh? The Nats’ newest starter had an impressive debut last night, striking out a franchise-high 14 batters. Still, reports from the ballpark of miraculous healings and appearances of the blessed virgin in peanut shells are curiously sparse this morning, raising questions about whether Strasburg will ultimately live up to to expectations.

Metro Memorial Plans Draw Criticism: The Post stirs up some trouble, getting in touch with the families of the victims of last June’s horrific red line Metro crash and asking them what they’ve heard about Metro’s plans for a memorial service. The unanimous answer seems to be “nothing” — and while Metro claims that the families’ invitations simply hadn’t yet been extended, some of those families are upset that they weren’t consulted during the planning phases of the memorial service.

NTSB Opens Probe Into Flipped Biplane: As you might imagine, the National Transit Safety Board takes an interest when planes flip end over end. So it’s not much of a surprise that they’re looking into yesterday’s incident at National Airport. There’s not much information yet, but WJLA quotes NTSB Chairman Debbie Hersman as saying that wind doesn’t seem to have been a factor. Ashley Halsey, the Post reporter who was in the plane when it flipped, has his own theory: he thinks he jinxed the flight.

Connolly Will Face Fimian Again: The Virginia GOP held its primary last night; you can find the results here. The Examiner runs down the races here; probably the most noteworthy result is that 2008’s race between for the eleventh district seat between Republican Keith Fimian and Democrat Gerry Connolly is set to repeat — albeit this time with more Tea Party rhetoric.
