Council member Jim Graham (D-Ward 1) is apparently mad at DCist over this post. Tweets @JimGraham_Ward1, “Last night, I was a celebrity guest bagger at Safeway benefiting prostate cancer research. DCist joked about it … joked?? Tasteless.” A tempest in a teapot if ever there was one — especially since Graham didn’t even serve out his Safeway shift last night. He told DCist that he showed up at the appointed time, but Safeway had him down to work on Saturday at 3 p.m., so they cut him. Someone manning the @JimGraham_Ward1 Twitter feed must not have gotten the memo. DCist hopes not too many readers waited around at Safeway, and we encourage everyone to go visit on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Prostate Cancer Foundation for which Graham will be raising money does important work.
