The first took place at around 10:40 a.m., an apparent robbery. Police officers responded to reports of a gunshot at a check-cashing business on the 2500 block of Benning Road NE. There, police found 30-year-old gunshot victim Prabhjot Singh with his father; the younger man died from the gunshot wound. Police are now following up on video-tape surveillance from the area and looking for multiple vehicles, which may belong to either witnesses or suspects.
Another shooting took place later in the day. At around 1 p.m., police responded to a report of multiple gunshots on the 2100 block of 3rd Street NE. Police discovered 38-year-old Calvin Godsey at 2101 3rd Street NE suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Preliminary reports suggest that the victim knew the people who attacked him and invited them into his residence at that address. Following the shooting, the gunmen fled toward Rhode Island Avenue and hopped into a blue Chrysler Pacifica, for which police are on the lookout. They have a partial tag to go by: 44878M.
