Apparently the 11-hour-long tennis match at Wimbledon and the ongoing soccer shocks in South Africa have raised global temperatures a few degrees, and we’re definitely feeling it here. It’s hot out there. Like 100-degrees hot. But Davy DCist, never a friend of D.C. weather, is as cool as they can get.

But seriously, this might be one of those days to catch up on reading, watch a few movies, or just otherwise not venture outside. If you see someone affected by the heat, call the hyperthermia hotline at 800-535-7252. And though we may all want to go pop open some fire hydrants and bathe in the streets, D.C. Fire/EMS is warning against it, tweeting that “past unauthorized use has caused water pressure concerns and traffic & ped safety issues.”

And for all that is good in the world, don’t go stand outside your local Apple store to get yourself an iPhone 4. It may well be a long wait, and the A/C-enabled model that Davy got is in especially short supply.
