Photo by Andrew Wiseman. Some two years in the making, Meridian Pint will finally open its taps to the public tonight.
A months-long build-out (and a few delays later), the newest addition to the Columbia Heights neighborhood at 3400 11th Street NW shows the time owner John Andrade put into it. The bar features an inviting upstairs restaurant space with a wooden bar and communal drinking island, while the downstairs space flips the aesthetic — a rec-room bar that also serves food. Warm dark-wood detailing and murals of mechanical schematics and pint-wielding socialist propaganda workers complete the emphasis on American craft beers.
But let’s face it, one of the quirkier draws for Meridian Pint will be its pair of space-age new-fangled table taps in the downstairs bar. Last night, DCist and area bloggers were treated to a test drive of the new tech. How did it run? Let’s call it an electric car — lots of nifty bells and whistles, but with a bit of uncertainty over its usefulness or future role at the bar.
