Festivals are the norm during the July theater scene, but this month, not everyone is sticking to mere festivals, which is kind of refreshing. Here are the highlights:
>> On the festival front, there’s the Hip Hop Theater Festival (July 6-10), which combines theater with music, dance and more.
>> Capital Fringe runs this month, as well. We’ll have our usual assault of coverage this year coming at you, but in the meantime, you can check out the schedule online.
>> You may remember his One Man Star Wars Trilogy — Charles Ross returns to Woolly Mammoth this month to take on Gollum and the like in his “One Man Lord Of The Rings” (July 5).
>> You won’t need a spoonful of sugar to ingest the production of Mary Poppins at the Kennedy Center (July 1).
