A man died yesterday after being struck by a Metrorail train on the tracks at the Minnesota Avenue station. Initially, the man was not believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries. Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and no service disruptions as a result of the incident were reported on the Orange Line yesterday — the man was struck minutes before the system shut down for the night. Bigger picture: if police rule the death as a suicide, it would be the 16th suicide on Metrorail in less than 18 months. Might be time to pick up the pace on that much-delayed suicide prevention program, WMATA.
