MONDAY

Independence Day weekend is coming to a close and you’ve had your fill of fireworks, but you still want more free concerts and picnicking? We suggest going to Fort Reno tonight. Actually, we’d suggest going to Fort Reno regardless of the date, because we like The Cheniers (RIYL: The Clean) and want to hear more from Drop Electric and Dynamite Fishermen. Also, we like Fort Reno. This is a no-lose situation. 7 p.m., free.

>> DC9: Findlay Brown with Wendell Kimbrough. 8:30 p.m., $8.

TUESDAY

New Yorkers in La Strada may have an accordion and a couple of violins in their onstage arsenal, but their energy is closer to punk than traditional folk. Granted, that could be because the singer reminds us of Hot Hot Heat vocalist Steve Bays but, regardless, we’ve listened and we’re intrigued. Carlos, I’m Pregnant will be opening the show at the Black Cat Backstage. 9 p.m., $8.

>> The Birchmere: Boz Scaggs with David Jacobs-Strain. 7:30 p.m., sold out.

WEDNESDAY

U Street Music Hall has gained more notoriety for its celebrity DJ sets and dance nights, but they host live bands as well. Avant-pop stalwarts True Womanhood and local veterans The Vita Ruins will join Brooklyn post-punk act Bear Hands for a night of beautiful yet bizarre sounds. 9 p.m., $10.

>> 9:30 Club: She & Him with The Chapin Sisters. 7 p.m., sold out.

>> Black Cat Backstage: David Dondero with The Sidekicks. 9 p.m., $10.
