St. Elizabeths Hospital, ca. 1909-1932Joy Haynes, a local actor and producer is using the crowd-funding site Kickstarter to raise funds for a film project at Saint Elizabeths Hospital. The project, entitled “Saint Elizabeths Hospital: Voices from Within” aims to provide patents with the tools to produce their own video diaries.
The project hopes to tell the stories of those within St. Elizabeths and also bolster the patients’ confidence. Haynes will provide the patients, or ‘consumers’ as they are referred to at St. Elizabeths, with equipment to produce their diaries. She will provide assistance with editing and production, aiming to complete a compilation for screening in the fall.
