The glory, the history…Foamhenge.

How could we not highlight this? Eric Nuzum, one of DCist’s favorite “recovering pop culture critics” and the author of The Dead Travel Fast, took a road trip to the Lexington, Virginia area to interview Mark Cline, who has fostered a reputation for himself as a bit of a roadside attraction impresario. We’ll let Nuzum take it from there:

“Cline…is kind of like a modern-day P.T. Barnum. He creates fascinating roadside attractions like Dinosaur Kingdom (where he re-imagines the Civil War as if fought between goofus Union soldiers…and dinosaurs), Professor Cline’s Haunted Monster Museum (a surrealist haunted house), and Foamhenge. Foamhenge is a life-sized exact replica of Stonehenge, made entirely of Styrofoam. In addition to being a great value (it’s free) it also offers a great view of the surrounding mountains of the George Washington National Forest. A true gem.”

Indeed. None of this isn’t awesome.
