Look at you, Vince Gray! A sprawling economic plan wasn’t the only thing that Gray unveiled recently — a new haircut, (slightly more) modern frames, and some new suits are all part of the mayoral candidate’s attempt to look a little bit more youthful during the stretch run of his campaign against an incumbent who is 28 years his junior. Tom Sherwood is all over this story like Gray’s hair was formerly all over his scalp:

Gray’s gotten some rave reviews from colleagues on the fashion upgrade — Councilmember Jack Evans (D-Ward 2) told Sherwood that the Chairman is “looking pretty sharp,” while Councilmember Harry Thomas, Jr. (D-Ward 5) said that Gray “always looks neater, cleaner.”

So, will Gray’s manscaping and new duds be enough to enhance his image among D.C. voters who have long gotten used to the dapper, clean-shaven Mayor Fenty? Or is it too little, too late for the man who, despite his best attempts, still looks more like fictional attorney extraordinaire Jackie Chiles than anyone in D.C. politics?
