Whew. Capital Fringe was such a workout, DCist’s theater team is still worn out. At least that’s going to be our flimsy excuse for why the August theater preview’s a couple days late. Never fear; we’re still here to give you the scoop on what’s opening this month.
>> There will be more than One Night In Bangkok at Signature Theatre, who have decided to grant me my Christmas wish from 2006 and stage the musical Chess, the underappreciated cult favorite from Tim Rice and the ABBA team (August 10).
>> Speaking of musicals, Wolf Trap has a pair of them to close out the summer: Legally Blonde (August 12) and The Sound of Music (August 31).
>> It’s that time of year again: ready for a Shakespeare Free-For-All? This year’s edition from Shakespeare Theatre is their romance-laden production of Twelfth Night (August 19).
>> Woolly Mammoth should make a sexy splash with its premiere of In The Next Room, Or The Vibrator Play from Sarah Ruhl (August 23).
