We’ve been talking about this new D.C.-based James L. Brooks rom-com, How Do You Know, for what feels like forever. There was that big shoot at the intersection of 18th Street and Columbia Road last summer. The Nationals’ season ticket list was used as an extra pool. And there was the obligatory Paul Rudd stalking, of course.
But we finally got a look at the trailer for the film this morning. While I’m sure that several members of our readership will still be plenty mesmerized by Mr. Rudd, we were more interested in the few seconds which showed co-star Owen Wilson in full Nationals garb, chatting in the bullpen at Nationals Park about luuurve. (Look, I just have a hard time getting too worked up about Reese Witherspoon’s obvious commitment issues. Can’t choose between the attractive professional ballplayer and the very attractive government man? Aww, poor baby.)
Back to the point: the trailer lends some hope that Brooks might actually nail down D.C. with some kind of respectable kind of geographic integrity. Though, if the film is really striving for accuracy, there better be a scene in the film in which Wilson walks a bunch of guys in the seventh inning, blowing a Nationals lead. Just saying.
