Photo by christopher.poole.WMATA has a light rail maintenance weekend on the docket — Orange, Yellow and Green Line riders will experience some minor delays, but it seems like this could be one of the more hassle-free Metro weekends in some time. (Knock on wood.) The planned maintenance this weekend:
Orange Line:
>> Between the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail stations, trains will single-track from 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday. Riders should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time.
>> On Saturday and Sunday, every other Orange Line train in the direction of Vienna/Fairfax-GMU will terminate at West Falls Church-VT/UVA — if you need to go beyond West Falls Church, you might need to wait for the next train.
Yellow and Green Lines:
>> Metro needs to trim the weeds between the Fort Totten and Prince George’s Plaza Metrorail stations. Trains will single-track between those stations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 15. Riders should add at least 20 minutes to their travel time between said stations during those periods. During the weed-whacking, all Yellow Line trains will terminate at the Mount Vernon Square-7th St/Convention Center station.
