Yep, even more road construction is coming to Dupont Circle. On Monday, construction crews will begin roadway and sidewalk work on 18th Street between P Street, NW and New Hampshire Avenue, NW. This construction is part of the 18th Street Reconstruction Project, which is of course not to be confused with the 17th Street Streetscape Project underway one block over. For the 18th Street project, work will be done in two-block segments.

Starting this weekend, traffic is restricted to one-way northbound between P and New Hampshire. Westbound traffic on P Street will also be detoured at 18th Street. Metro will also be creating a temporary bus stop on Massachusetts Avenue, NW between 18th Street and Dupont Circle for the G2, N2, N4, and N6 routes.

The 18th Street Reconstruction Project, coordinated by the District Department of Transportation is aimed at improving the street from Massachusetts Avenue NW up to Florida Avenue NW. Eventually this project will hook in with the 18th Street Streetscape Project, which is a complete redesign of 18th Street from Florida Avenue north to Columbia Road.
