As August winds down, we inevitably take a moment to reflect on the summer’s past gaeity. Thrill-inducing adventures, the season’s bountiful harvest — and subsequent gluttonous overindulgence — and general uproarious frolicking. But if you somehow missed out on all the festivities, a county or state fair is the perfect opportunity to catch up, with a little extra credit for good measure. Now that fair season has hit, our Flickr photographers have brought us some great shots of the eats, critters and chunk-inducing rides around town.

Included are scenes from the Celebrate Fairfax Fair, Howard County Fair, the recently ended Montgomery County Agricultural Fair and the Arlington County Fair, which runs until 10 p.m. tonight. Better yet, make an event out of next weekend for the grassroots D.C. State Fair.
