In this week’s installment we chat with current at-Large D.C. Councilmember Kwame Brown (D), who is running for D.C. Council Chair. Brown has been the favorite to win the seat, which currently belongs to mayoral candidate Vincent Gray. Brown lives in the Hillcrest neighborhood in Southeast with his wife and two children. Brown’s primary opponent in the race is former Ward 5 Councilmember Vincent Orange.
What does your Sunday routine look like?
I run five miles in the morning. Go to church with my family and hang out with them in the afternoon. I usually do whatever my children Kwame and Lauren want to do.
Do you have an iPod? If so, what have you been listening to?
Yes, I have an iPod and iPad. Too busy campaigning to listen much lately. If it was on now it would be the Black Eyed Peas, a Vote for Kwame Brown rap produced by DC youth, Alicia Keys and Jay Z.
Have you seen any good movies lately (DVD or theater)?
The only movies I have seen have been animated ones–most recently Toy Story III–with the loves of my life, my wife and kids.
How long have you lived in D.C. and why did you move here?
I am a native Washingtonian. It’s the best city in the universe.
