MOVIES: The DC Shorts Film Festival continues this weekend and through next week. Tonight catch showcases 3, 4, 5, and 8 (see the schedule for times and locations). Celebrate the festival at the Grand Bash party at the U.S. Navy Memorial Plaza (701 Pennsylvania Avenue NW) 9 p.m. to midnight. Tickets to the party are $10 (plus $1.24 fee), while each showcase is $12 with a $1.29 fee.

>> E Street Cinema’s (555 11th Street NW) presents two quirky classics at midnight tonight. Come see Dr. Strangelove or The Rocky Horror Picture Show. $10 each film, both at midnight.

FOOD & DRINK: Eat, drink, and smell the roses at the U.S. Botanical Gardens’s Harvest Party. Guest chefs and culinary experts — Gina Chersevani and Peter Smith (PS 7’s), Greg Engert (Churchkey), Todd Gray (Equinox), Kate Jansen (Resaurant Willow), Benjamin Lambert (Restaurant Nora), and Dennis Marron (The Grill, Morrison House, and Jackson 20) — will provide cooking demonstrations, cocktails, beer samplings, a buffet, and dessert. Also: wander around the Botanical Gardens’ Rose Garden, First Ladies Water Garden, and Butterfly Garden. Tickets are $90, and must be purchased in advance. 6:30-8:30 p.m.

FASHION: Head to Georgetown for Fashion Night Out. While the focus is on shopping (grabbing up new styles and deals), there will also be wine sampling, free food, Cirque du Soleil performers roaming the streets, and more. MUSIC: Double Dagger and Hume perform at Comet Ping Pong (5037 Connecticut Avenue NW). $8, 10:30 p.m.
