MONDAY

If you haven’t had a chance to see the wild and unpredictable live show that Of Montreal brings on tour, you have two chances to do it this week at the 9:30 Club. The release of their tenth studio album False Priest finds the Athens, eorgia group at their most accessible. We can only hope they’ll bring out the horse for this show. To get a taste of the new record, NPR is streaming False Priest until tomorrow — if you can’t get tickets to the show either day, go buy the record and have lunch with them instead. Spaced-out R&B diva Janelle Monáe opens both nights. $25, 7 p.m.

Competing with Of Montreal this week is Toronto’s Broken Social Scene at the Warner Theatre. Sure, the line-up doesn’t have the indie-famous names of Feist or Emily Haines (Metric) anymore, but there’s still plenty to get excited about. The band released a solid album in Forgiveness Rock Record earlier this year and has not graced the District in some time. Don’t sleep on the opener The Sea and Cake either. Surprisingly, this show is not sold out. $29.50, 8 p.m.

>> DC9: Nomo, Black and Tan Fantasy Band. $12/$14, 8:30 p.m.

>> Black Cat: El Ten Eleven, Dosh, Baths. $10, 8:30 p.m.

TUESDAY

New Jersey’s Screaming Females bring their monster riffs back to town at the Black Cat backstage with The Gift. Prepare to have your faces melted, Washington. $8, 9 p.m.

>> 9:30 Club: Of Montreal, Janelle Monáe. $25, 7 p.m.
