The latest chapter in a story which doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon: the Associated Press reports that officials with the Army found three more mismarked graves at Arlington National Cemetery last month.

In June, Army investigators located about 100 mismarked graves at the National Cemetery, including burial urns which had been dumped in an area where excess burial dirt was stored. Later, a Congressional hearing revealed that the number of mismarked graves at Arlington numbered well into the several thousands, and leadership at the Cemetery was grilled reprimanded, including the ouster of longtime Supervisor John C. Metzler, Jr.

It’s an awkward thing to say, but here’s hoping that these three graves are part of that larger figure, and not an indication that there might be even more mismanaged burials that officials aren’t already aware of.
