ART: WALA‘s Cocktail Hour & Fashion Preview brings together artists, lawyers and everyone in between for a night of drinks and design. Put on at Industry Gallery and Conner Contemporary (1358 Florida Avenue NE, Suite 200), this event is free for WALA members, and $10 for everyone else. RSVP. 6 p.m.

COMEDY: Dave Attell, snarky comedian and former host of the show Insomniac with Dave Attell, performs tonight at the DC Improv (1140 Connecticut Avenue NW). 8 p.m. Tickets are $35.

BOOK: Learn the delicious history of bacon as well as assorted recipes in Ari Weinzweig’s book, Zingerman’s Guide to Better Bacon: Stories of Pork Bellies, Hush Puppies, Rock ‘n’ Roll Music and Bacon Fat Mayonnaise. Weinzweig, a James Beard award-winner, will be talking bacon and signing his book tonight at Perry’s Restaurant (1811 Columbia Road NW). 6 p.m. Free.

MUSIC: The Books incorporate clips, like sounds of “agitated children from discarded Talkboys,” in their music. Tonight they take on the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW), along with The Black Heart Procession. 7 p.m., $20.

MOVIES: Watch a free screening of From King to Congress, a documentary on Andrew Young, “the first African American from the deep South to be elected to the U.S. Congress since Reconstruction.” A discussion with Ambassador Young and NPR’s Diane Rehm will follow the film. The event will be held at the National Archives William G. McGowan Theater (200 Constitution Avenue NW) at 7 p.m. Free.
