What happens when you take Bon Iver’s creative shaman Justin Vernon and mix in members of The Rosebuds, Megafaun, Solid Gold and Andrew Bird’s touring band? You get Gayngs: our latest indie rock supergroup. They’ll be at the Black Cat with Glasser tonight. $20, 8:00 p.m.

Menomena only has three members, but eight different instruments (including a saxophone and a MOOG) usually factor into their live performances. Their first two albums have garnered critical acclaim, due to their ability to write songs that combine styles as disparate as jazz, pop and 70s-era metal.
