BICYCLES: Dandies & Quaintrelles, a group that “organizes and hosts vintage-inspired, stylish events” like the Seersucker Social and Tweed Ride, is at it again tonight with a Retro Bike Show at The Loree Grand Field (2nd and L Streets NE), part of NoMa’s ZestFest. The group promises an evening of badminton, Beatles Rock Band and bicycles. 5-11 p.m. Free.
HALLOWEEN: Boo at the Zoo is a night of trick-or-treating, animals and talks with zookeepers at the National Zoo (3001 Connecticut Avenue NW). It’s sold out on Saturday,
but there are still tickets for tonight and Sunday. 5:30-8:30 p.m. $30.
>> Puppet Underground, a D.C. puppeteer collective, presents a Haunted Halloween Cabaret of puppet and shadow puppet performances tonight at St. Stephen’s Church (1525 Newton Street NW) and tomorrow at Francis Scott Key Park in Georgetown (M Street NW between 34th and 35th Streets). Tonight’s show is all in one place, while tomorrow’s show is a walking tour (and fire show!). >> Markoff’s Haunted Forest (19120 Martinsburg Road. Dickerson, MD) offers a zipline, trapeze “death jump” and ghost hunts, along with the more typical creepy forest trail walks where people jump out and scare the crap out of you. Tickets $25.
>> Get spooked on the Haunted Trail, startled on in the HaverGhast Haunted House, jostled on the Haunted Hayride and stuffed on haunted fried twinkies at the Field of Screams (4501 Olney-Laytonsville Road, Olney, MD) tonight and tomorrow. Tickets for each attraction are between $10 and $20, or $35 for all three. 6:30-10 p.m.
BURLESQUE: Even though The Palace of Wonders (1210 H Street NE) is still working on its merge with The Red and The Black, they’re hosting two burlesque shows this weekend. Tonight, it’s Sugar Shack – The Pop Up Show, featuring burlesque performers from New York and Richmond, at 9:30 and 11:30 p.m. Bar opens at 6 p.m. $10 each show.
COMEDY: Science comedian Brian Malow brings “Rational Comedy for an Irrational Planet” to Georgetown University’s Reiss Auditorium (37th and O Streets NW) tonight. 8-10 p.m. Free and no registration required.
JAZZ: Add “jazz” to your grocery list and head to Georgetown’s “Social” Safeway (1855 Wisconsin Avenue NW) tonight to see jazz musician Loide Jorge perform in the store’s café. 5-7 p.m. Free.
MOVIE: Watch the Fault Lines documentary The High and the Mighty: California’s Cannabis Fight tonight at Busboys and Poets (2021 14th Street NW), hosted by Al Jazeera English. 6 p.m. Free.
>> Brazilian Film Week began at noon today and continues tonight with I Travel Because I Need To, I Come Back Because I Love You at 5 p.m., A Gastronomic Story at 7:30 p.m. and Out of Tune at 10 p.m. at E Street Cinema (555 11th Street NW). All films are being shown in Portuguese with English subtitles, and all films are free.
