There are a ton of really old rowhouses and homes in Washington, so it’s actually kind of surprising that we don’t hear about things like this more often: police and emergency personnel swarmed the intersection of 13th Street and Park Road NW in Columbia Heights this afternoon after someone reported finding old grenades in a rowhouse which is being renovated. According to the D.C. Fire and EMS Twitter feed, the situation was cleared about half an hour after it was reported. I suppose it’s a reminder to be happy that we live in an age where people don’t really feel the need to keep that kind of weaponry on hand like they once did.
