With so many promising concerts on the schedule this week, there’s something to listen to everyday, perhaps in the following order.
Conductor Daniel Harding (photo by Julian Hargreaves) MONDAY:
>> The Syndicate, a recently formed group presenting concerts of contemporary music, hosts a new Baltimore music ensemble, Ruckus, on Monday night (November 1, 8 p.m.) with a free concert at Catholic University’s Ward Recital Hall.
TUESDAY:
>> Spend your lunch hour on Tuesday (November 2, 12:10 p.m.) with members of the Washington Bach Consort at their celebrated Noontime Cantata series, playing the cantata Ach, ich sehe, itzt, da ich zur Hochzeit gehe (BWV 162). This is a free concert, with a free will donation, at the Church of the Epiphany (1317 G St. NW).
WEDNESDAY
>> The lunchtime music continues on Wednesday (November 3, 12:10 p.m.) with your choice of two concerts, both free: the New York Chamber Soloists at the National Gallery of Art (in the lecture hall on the ground floor of the West Building) or organist Benjamin Hutto at St. John’s Lafayette Square (16th and H Sts. NW).
>> For the evening (November 3, 8 p.m.), you have another choice, between visits of two renowned orchestras: either the Dresdner Staatskapelle, with pianist Rudolf Buchbinder and conductor Daniel Harding, at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, or the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, with pianist Jonathan Biss, in the Music Center at Strathmore.
>> More free concerts after the jump.
