Future IslandsTUESDAY
While Deer Tick‘s website (and music, for that matter) may reflect a spare ethos, there’s a lovely complexity to John J. McCauley’s songwriting. Comparable to the raspy twang of A. A. Bondy, McCauley’s voice is the beating heart of each and every track. At Black Cat with opener, Mark Sultan. $16, 8:00 p.m.
>> Rock and Roll Hotel: Fang Island, Delicate Steve, The Black Girls. $12/$14, 7:00 p.m.
WEDNESDAY
Riding the wave created by his inspired and predictably bass-heavy reworkings of everyone from Nelly Furtado to Fever Ray, Bassnectar does what you’d expect and more, making powerful yet accessible pitch-shifted and screwed dubstep. Unfortunately the show at the 9:30 Club is sold out, but find a ticket if you can. Emancipator and Rex Riddem will open. 8:00 p.m.
>> Rock and Roll Hotel: Dawes, Vetiver, Peter Wolf Crier. $15, 7:00 p.m.
